I have created an easy 3dsolid box in autocad which I have exported as an IGES file and then import it into Netgen. The surface mesh is very nicely done but it does not carry out any volume mesh and when I check the clipping option, the element is empty.
Does anybody know why it doesn’t generate a volume mesh?

Netgen does not have a automatic hex mesher included, so from these quad meshes the volume mesher will probably not be able to create good meshes/ meshes at all. You can try using the meshing option try_hexes=True which may work in this specific case but has quite limited functionality.
Netgen is best for Tet meshing (+some extra functionalities like CloseSurface for anisotropic regions filled with prisms)
